Al Goldstein (1936-2013) was the founder of Screw, a weekly tabloid that at the height of its success sold 140,000 copies a week. Screw aimed to be the Consumer Reports of sex, featuring reviews of porn movies, peep shows, erotic massage parlors, brothels, escorts and other offerings of the adult entertainment industry. Goldstein was arrested nineteen times on obscenity charges and spent millions of dollars defending his First Amendment rights.
